The autumn 2026 newsletter is here

Our Holmwood Aged Care autumn newsletter is here

The autumn edition of The Holmwood Happenings has arrived, and the Holmwood Aged Care autumn newsletter is packed with everything we got up to over the season. We crawled the pubs, rocked around the clock, baked our own pastries and squeezed in a birthday or seven along the way. You can read the full edition below, and here is a taste of what is inside.

Autumn highlights from our Holmwood Aged Care newsletter

St Patrick’s Day was one for the books. We tucked into a buffet lunch, tried our luck at festive games and set off on an afternoon pub crawl in true Irish spirit. Everything was green and the craic was mighty.
Our new live cooking demonstrations with head cook Shannon have quickly become a favourite. We rolled up our sleeves for warm, crispy apple turnovers and Nutella cookies, swapping stories and recipes along the way. The demos are now a regular fixture, and Shannon has even shared the recipe for our cheese and chive scones inside this edition.
The biggest night of the season was our Rock and Roll Night. We helped with the decorating, put on our glad rags and danced the night away with the Cheek to Cheek Duo and the dancers from Shine Dancing. The smiles lasted well into the following week.

Out and about, and closer to home

We hopped on the bus for a pub lunch in town, while back at home the ladies took over the shed to prep seeds and seedlings for the garden. The Easter Bunny made a surprise appearance at happy hour, families joined us to celebrate the season, and we fired up the barbecue for a lunch shared between residents and staff.
There was no shortage of cake either, with birthday celebrations for Robin, Dell, Joan, Ellen, Merlin, Jean and Jan, and a very special afternoon tea for Marie, who turned 95 years young surrounded by her family.

Faces of Holmwood

This edition we welcome Kellie into her new role as Lifestyle Coordinator. Kellie has been part of our care team for the past year and shares her story in Meet the Team, along with her plans for creative arts sessions, gentle fitness classes and special celebrations in the months ahead.

You will also meet Judy in our resident profile. From her first horse at age ten to more than twenty years travelling the world as a horse judge, and even racing Holden Toranas at Bathurst as a friend of Peter Brock, her story is a remarkable one. Our resident Ton has contributed a poem too, and it is well worth a read.

News from our clinical and kitchen teams

Our Clinical Care Coordinator Suleman shares how the team keeps everyone warm, hydrated and well through the cooler months, including an update on winter vaccinations. Shannon lets us in on what is cooking, with monthly carveries, buffet breakfasts and a new international lunch joining the calendar, plus a new menu in development with our dietician. Families can also learn about our new dining option, where visitors can enjoy a meal alongside their loved one during a visit.
