Life at Holmwood Aged Care: February & March 2025 Highlights

Over February and March Holmwood has been buzzing with activity, community connection, and plenty of laughs. From celebrations to thoughtful giving, here’s a look at what made February and March so special.

February Highlights

Knitting with Purpose. Residents rolled up their sleeves and picked up their needles for a good cause, creating possum pouches for wildlife rescue and cosy cat beds for local shelters. Anne from our Lifestyle team led the group with passion and care, turning quiet afternoons into moments of giving.

Sorting for Good. Together with Lifestyle team member Stacey, residents helped sort donated clothing for a number of community charities. Items went to domestic violence shelters, animal rescue centres, and children with disabilities. The outpouring of donations from families, staff and friends was heart warming.

Fresh Air & Fun. From scenic drives to Lilydale Lake to a cheerful lunch at Healesville RSL, residents made the most of summer with outings full of sunshine, fresh air, and good conversation.

Balloon Magic & Pet Visits. Young Baylee wowed residents with his balloon-twisting talents (his only fee: chocolate!). We also welcomed back our furry friends from Forever Friends Animal Rescue, bringing smiles and snuggles to all.

Daily Joys. Our days were filled with laughter and activity; from haircuts and pampering, to sunbathing, happy hours, sewing, prayer group, dancing and aerobics. The highlight? A visit from live performer Steph and our ever-popular music quiz.

Gym Debut. February saw the launch of our brand-new gym. Residents embraced weights, balance beams, exercise bikes and even basketball. Each session finished with well-earned relaxation in the massage chair.

Staff Spotlight. Congratulations to Megan, our February Employee of the Month, known for her warmth and positivity. Runner-up Suleman, our Clinical Care Coordinator, was also applauded and celebrated a very special milestone with the arrival of his baby boy, Harris!

March Highlights

A Fresh New Space. We proudly opened the new Coranderrk Dining Room! With its bright, welcoming feel, it’s become a hub for connection and good food. Residents celebrated with a delicious meal, a glass of wine, and warm chats with our cooking team.

Happy Hour. Live music, bar snacks, and great company made for lively Friday afternoons. Add a few laughs and a favourite drink in hand, the perfect way to unwind.

St Paddy’s Day Shenanigans. The luck of the Irish was strong at Holmwood! Green cheer filled the halls with bingo, prizes, and a sizzling BBQ on the Townsend Patio.

Picnic in the Park. A scenic outing to Maroondah Reservoir Park gave residents the chance to soak up the sun and enjoy sweet treats under the trees. Simple pleasures, shared together.

Staff Recognition. March’s Employee of the Month went to the ever-smiling Bec from catering. Julie, one of our dedicated RNs, was a close runner-up. Thirty team members were nominated – proof of just how valued our staff are.

Community Kindness. A big thank you to Seville Community House for donating sensory items and helpful tools for residents in our Memory Support Unit, every gesture makes a difference.

Holmwood Aged Care continues to thrive as a warm, welcoming home where residents feel part of something bigger. These past two months have been full of laughter, purpose, and community spirit — just the way we like it.
