Summer 2025-26 at Holmwood Aged Care Healesville
Aged Care Healesville
Life at Holmwood had a summer to remember. From festive Christmas celebrations and friendly sporting tournaments to live music every Friday and a spectacular Chinese New Year banquet, our community made the most of every moment across December 2025 through February 2026.
Here's a look back at what we got up to - and a chance to read the full Summer edition of The Holmwood Happenings below.
A Festive December Full of Generosity
December set a wonderful tone for the season. Residents, families and staff came together for the annual Christmas Party Luncheon - a feast of seafood cocktails, roast pork, pavlova and Chef Shannon's legendary Christmas pudding, all accompanied by live music from Robby.
The community also rallied together to donate non-perishable food items for St Vincent de Paul, with an overwhelming response from residents, families, staff and local businesses. Healesville Primary School added to the warmth of the season, with school captains Matilda and Macey delivering gifts from their school's Gift Giving Tree. The year wrapped up with a New Year's Eve Happy Hour and plenty of optimism for 2026.
January: Tournaments, Baking and the Great Outdoors
January brought energy and activity in equal measure. The Holmwood Open - our very own table tennis tournament - had the whole home buzzing with singles, doubles and staff-versus-residents matches. Hot on its heels came our first-ever Snooker Tournament, which proved such a hit that Monday pool nights are now a permanent fixture on the calendar.
In between the competition, residents gathered in the kitchen to bake scones with jam and cream and citrus cakes, headed out to the Terminus Hotel in Healesville for a lovely outing, and celebrated Australia Day with a relaxed BBQ alongside families and staff. Live Music Fridays also launched in January, with crowd favourite Jack kicking things off in style.
February: Casino Night, Valentine's Day and a Yarra Valley Escape
February rounded out a memorable summer. Casino Night delivered on every front - games tables, pokies, food, wine and beer - while Valentine's Day was marked with champagne, sweet treats, stories of first loves and a kissing booth that proved enormously popular (special thanks to our four-legged guests).
A ladies' outing to the Yarra Glen Hotel was one of the highlights of the season, and the month closed beautifully with a Lunar New Year Chinese banquet - dumplings, wonton soup, lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork and prawn crackers served in a dining room decorated in red and gold. Live Music Fridays continued every week without fail.
